Scholarships
There are many scholarships available to the children of CSEA Unit 7914 Members. Partnering with Local 836 and AFSCME, to offer our youth a variety of different opportunities to assist in their future endeavors. Applications are available online or in mid-February from local and unit presidents.
2012 Irving Flaumenbaum Memorial Scholarships
CSEA awards 24, $1,000 scholarships under the Irving Flaumenbaum Memorial Scholarship and Thomas H. McDonough programs. Plus, Pearl Carrol & Associates LLC and MetLife each sponsor a one-time $2,500 award.
Filing for a Flaumenbaum scholarship automatically puts an applicant in consideration for the Pearl Carroll & Associates LLC and MetLife scholarships.
The Irving Flaumenbaum Award - will provide eighteen $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors; three in each Region.
The Pearl Carroll & Associates Award - will provide one $2,500 award to a high school student entering the SUNY System.
The MetLife Insurance Company Scholarship - will provide one $2,500 award NOT limited to a student entering SUNY.
The deadline for applications is April 22, 2012.
Winners will be announced in the June CSEA Newspaper "The Work Force".
CSEA Unit 7914 Graduating High School Senior Scholarship
Unit 7914 offers a scholarship to high school seniors. Children must write and submit an essay of their career goals and be sure to fill out and attach the below application to:

The deadline for applications is April 15, 2012.
Jerry Clark Memorial Scholarship Program
The Jerry Clark Memorial Scholarship Program is an ongoing program available to children of AFSCME members. Under the program, one scholarship in the amount of $5,000 will be awarded annually to two students majoring in the social sciences for his/her junior and senior years of study. The chosen students will also be given the opportunity to intern at the International Union headquarters in the Political Action department during the summer between his/her junior and senior year or for one semester during his/her junior or senior year. Once awarded, the scholarship will be renewed for the senior year of study, provided the students remain enrolled in a full-time course of study as a social science major.
Applications must be postmarked by April 30, 2012.
